The Ophthalmic Technician supports the division of Ophthalmology/Optometry with 15 providers and is responsible for performing patient assessments and technical skills to accurately assess the ophthalmic status of each patient, including emergency procedures and medication administration as appropriate. Educates patients and documents patient interactions. Practices infection control. Contributes to the team as necessary to ensure quality patient care. Additional responsibilities include: managing technician schedules, supply and medication ordering and inventory.

This position is Full-Time, 8 hour shifts, start times between 7:00am-9:00am. Monday-Friday and Saturday rotation. Position located in Torrey Pines – La Jolla and float to other clinics as need.

Job Requirements

Required Certification/Registration/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Current BLS card for Healthcare Professional from American Heart Association (AMA).
  • Additional requirements vary according to specialty and duties performed in business unit.
Preferred Education/Course(s)/Certification/Registration:
  • One year experience in optometry and in ophthalmology
  • Ophthalmic Technician Certificate preferred.
  • Completion of a certified Ophthalmic Technical program preferred.
