This position is perfect for an independent, highly motivated Nurse Practitioner who wants to take the position to the next level.  It would be a good fit for someone currently working part time and looking for an additional challenge that could possibly grow into a Full time position.
 
The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure that evidence-based practice is implemented and understood by the Patient Services staff. Serves as a link integrating relevant research, best practice and clinical delivery processes. Serves the cardiovascular program by seeing patients and writing orders in the ICU, in the Cardiac Care Center, and on the Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit. Fits into the cardiology call schedule, as appropriate, to help support 24/7 coverage. Serves the hospital as an advanced practice nurse for the cardiovascular nursing staff.
 
This is a Casual (Per Diem), Day position with frequent weekend shifts and located at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Master’s degree in nursing.
  • Five years recent acute care experience in cardiology or ICU with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Ability to manage cardiovascular patients.
  • Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
 
Required Certification/Registration:
  • Current California RN License.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Nurse Practitioner credential in area of clinical specialization.
  • Maintain medical staff credentialing as an Allied Health Professional.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Minimum of one year in the advanced practice role preferable in cardiology.
  • Relevant certification preferred.
