Job Description

Provides administrative and organizational support to the Medical Staff Administration Department and to the medical staff organization. Coordinates, on behalf of the medical staff organization the development, if applicable and/or revisions of their bylaws, rules and regulations, policies/procedures, and privileging criteria. Supports medical staff leadership in conducting their meeting(s) management, and review(s) of credentialing files, peer review, and review(s) of OPPE (ongoing professional practice evaluations) and FPPE (focused professional practice evaluations) including proctoring. Assists in the coordination of the continuing medical education (CME) program for the medical staff organization. Maintains responsibility and accountability of assigned medical staff sections/departments/committees and their relationship with the medical staff organization in fulfilling compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory and/or accrediting agencies, such as TJC, Title 22, and CMS requirements.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Medical Staff Administration or related hospital/healthcare experience OR has successfully completed an ABA approved post-graduate paralegal program with hospital internship experience and focus in the area of medical staff law.
 
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory accreditation standards related to the medical staff organization.

Required Certification/Registration:  Current certification (s) or actively pursuing certification for Medical Staff Service professionals, such as CPMSM (Certified Provider of Medical Staff Management) or CPCS (Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist) by the National Association of Medical Staff Services. If not currently certified must obtain certification within 4 years of hire.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:Associate or Bachelors degree. Experienced computer user including word processing, spreadsheets, data entry and database systems.
