The Medical Librarian assists the Library Manager in the daily provision of library services to medical and hospital staffs at Scripps hospital campuses. Primary responsibilities include database searching, general reference, cataloging and classification of library materials and webmaster for the library's home page on Scripps Net. In addition to the daily provision of library services, the librarian will assist with coordination of the site's Continuing Medical Education (CME) program. The librarian will help to identify and support continuing education programs to meet the needs of the medical staff.
 
This position is full time and located at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Master's Degree in Library Science.
  • At least one year of post-master's degree library work experience including using personal computers, the Internet, MEDLINE, DIALOG, Ovid and EOSi databases.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; initiative to exercise independent judgment, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Course work or experience in medical librarianship.
  • Membership in Medical Library Association's Academy of Health Information Professional (AHIP) desirable.
