Join the Patient Financial Services Department as a Manager, Revenue Cycle at Scripps Hospital Encinitas.  Working together, you’ll bring your expertise, compassion and excellence to all we do.
The Manager, Revenue Cycle is responsible for managing the day to day operation and activities related to Patient Access for Scripps Encinitas Hospital, a 194 bed Acute Facility and Emergency Department.  You will be supervising 50 employees, to include two Supervisors and three Leads engaged in pre- admission, registration, financial services, scheduling, insurance verification and authorization, reception, cashiering, data entry, pre- billing and PBX.  Responsible for quality control, education, training and patient satisfaction.  Prepares access staff for survey readiness.  Participates with ancillary departments to problem solve and in quality improvement processes.  Prepares department's operational budget. You will also be supporting the implementation of Epic and coordinating staff training during Wave II.
The Manager, Revenue Cycle ensures compliance with policies/procedures and standards of care. Resolves administrative and operational issues within department/Organization. Initiates improvement efforts, workflow design and validation as well as drafting policies and procedures. Manages department resources effectively. Ensures Patient Account targets are met while maintaining quality and compliance requirements. Collaborates with management teams from across the organization to improve patient satisfaction, increase collections and reduce denials. Participates in department strategic planning and contributes to its success through effectively communicating goals and expectations to staff. Oversees and performs quality audits providing retraining or action plans as needed to improve accuracy and meet production/patient satisfaction targets. Ensures effective use of system resources while meeting budgetary targets. Generates and reviews reports to track department outcomes, performs root cause analysis to identify and drive performance improvement needs. Oversees staffing assignments and time card compliance, possesses ability to hire and, conduct performance evaluations. Keeps abreast of current policies, practices and procedures and provide guidance to staff. Assists in urgent situations requiring immediate decision making as needed.
This is a Full Time, Salaried day position.  The candidate will typically be working a Monday – Friday schedule, but flexibility and on-call is needed from the candidate in this role.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Five years of customer service experience in a healthcare/medical office environment, one of which in a leadership role.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of computer applications, excellent mathematical skills and ability to handle monies.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; innovative with ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Able to adapt, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Three years of Leadership experience, preferably in an a Healthcare setting
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience with Epic
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and government health insurance and billing guidelines, ACA requirements, understanding of DRG's, Medical ICD9/ICD10 codes and CPT/HCPC Codes and Modifiers are preferred.
