The Lead, Sterile Processing is responsible for the cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies used for patient care. Cleans and disinfects equipment requiring decontamination or sterilization according to designated principles of asepsis. Responsible for testing and recording of sterilizer equipment performance to ensure operating within sterility standards. Maintains established control systems for supplies and equipment processed. Coordinates daily communication and operational needs with affiliated departments. May function as department lead with responsibility for assisting with daily department operations including staff scheduling, training, mentoring, and performance management. May function as the technical expert for a particular service line and in this role is responsible for improving service line processes and daily quality outcomes. Leads performance/process improvement projects. 
 
This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE – 80 hours per pay period), with varied shifts.  Day shift is from 6:00AM – 2:30PM.  Evening shift is from 2:00PM– 10:30PM, and Night shift is from 10:00PM – 6:30AM.

Job Requirements

Required Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Completion of college training program for SPD or online study program or completion of formal on the job training program.
  • 1 year experience as SPD Tech .
  • Working knowledge of sterilizers, surgical instrumentation and medical equipment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and familiarity in database management.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
 
Required Certification/Registration:
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CBSPD Certification.
  • 1 year experience in Central Processing
