Our clinics are located throughout San Diego to offer a variety of services, such as blood tests and sample collection. Our Phlebotomists are key in providing an excellent experience to our patients. This Lead Phlebotomist will be joining the team floating between our Rancho Bernardo, Carmel Valley, Santee and La Jolla clinic locations. To be successful, the Lead Phlebotomist will have both leadership and phlebotomy experience. The Lead must be flexible in covering staff needs. This person will serve as a liaison between management and staff, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.This position is ideal for someone looking to grow and learn from being part of the leadership team.

The Lead Phlebotomist will support two supervisors in assisting with scheduling and filling in for call outs and LOAs. The Lead will be working as a phlebotomist 70% of the time and 30% administrative. Answers phones and provides clerical support for the laboratory. Ensures performance and safety standards are met. Ensures inventory and supplies are stocked appropriately. Serves as a liaison for the laboratory and interacts with physicians, nurses and customers to provide a positive outcome. Performs age specific venipuncture and capillary puncture, and processes specimens for transport. Provides operations management support to department leadership, including maintaining policies and procedures, timekeeping and quality control/reporting. Contributes to performance evaluations and hiring decisions.

This is a full time position with varied shifts, including rotating weekends. Flexibility to work extended hours and ability to float to other sites is required.

Job Requirements

  • Good critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with medical terminology, with an understanding of computer systems
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician
  • American Heart Association BLS

  •  Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
  • 3-5 years experience as a phlebotomist
  • 6 months leadership experience
