Join us as a Lead Cardiac Sonographer in the Echocardiology Department in the Anderson Medical Pavilion on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. In this position you will act as the primary educator for our large team of Sonographer who provide coverage for 2 hospitals and 7 outpatient clinic sites. You will experience the pride, and support of being a member of an outstanding diagnostics team where we share a culture of providing excellent care to our patients and each other.
The Lead Cardiac Sonographer will apply his or her expertise to support the Echo Lab Leadership Team and be a technical resource for staff and physicians.  Areas of focus for the Lead Sonographer include quality control education, IAC reaccreditation, and bimonthly QA meetings for physicians and sonographers.  This Lead/Educator position will also oversee the quality of images and preliminary reports, and provide feedback as needed.
The Lead Cardiac Sonographer is also responsible for providing age specific care, education and imaging procedures in conjunction with other members of the defined health care team. They will adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements, participate in Quality Control and Process Improvement activities, and maintain clinical competency and mandatory requirements. The Lead Cardiac Sonographer will also function as a liaison between state and federal agencies for licensure, certification, and QA requirements for the entire radiology department, maintain all records as needed to verify that regulations are being upheld at all times, and is also responsible for charge reconciliation audits for procedures performed in their department.
This position is full-time (80 hours per pay period) and is primarily located at the Anderson Medical Pavilion on the Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla campus.



Job Requirements

Requirements: 

  • A.S. degree in a CAHEEP approved Cardiovascular Technology Program
  • RDCS or RCS
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Teaching/Mentoring experience in echocardiography


Preferred Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in a healthcare related field 
  • Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) certification
  • FASE member (Fellow American Society of Echocardiography)
  • Assistance in IAC accreditation process
  • Active participation in local and/or national Echo Societies
