Our Lactation Specialist provides direct patient care within the scope of his/her practice. Patient care includes assessment, planning and implementing a plan of care, and evaluating patient’s progress toward expected outcomes. The RN takes primary responsibility for supporting the lactation needs of the patient. Works collaboratively with the other members of the patients care team to ensure optimal patient care. Demonstrates ability to perform competencies as outlined in MBU Competency Assessment tools. Demonstrates age-specific care as established for area and job title.
 
This is a casual (per diem) position, with varied shifts.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • More than 1 year of experience in providing lactation support
  • Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors.
  • Completion of Lactation Consultant Course.
Required Certification/Registration:
  • Current BLS for Health Care Provider.
  • Completion of a Lactation Consultant Program.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • B.S. in related field preferred.
  • Prefer IBCLC certification
  • Experience in labor & delivery, mother/baby couplet care and/or NICU. 
  • Experience as a Lactation Specialist
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)
