Job Description

*This is a LIMITED TENURE position, expected to end around January 2019*
Responsible for full range of tasks performed in coordinating the release of patient's 'protected health information'. Responsible for complying with all State and Federal laws regarding the release and disclosure of 'protected health information'. Responsible for complying with established policy and current consent law for the proper release of all health care information. Ensures that the patient's privacy is protected. Duties include receiving and recording all subpoenas and requests for health information from Health Information and Radiology, verification of proper authorization, record review prior to releasing information, organization and tracking of release of information, filing, retrieval and customer service support of the health information department.

Job Requirements

Experience/Specialized Skills: 1 or more years experience in a health information/medical records setting, acute care or ambulatory facility. Familiarity with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Confidentiality and Security Regulations and Laws preferred. Strong verbal communication skills required. Customer service experience required.

Required Education/Course(s)/Training: High school diploma required. College courses in Health Information Science. Strong computer knowledge, medical terminology. Strong oral communication skills, and phone contact experience.
