The Scripps Clinical Research department is located in sunny San Diego, CA and minutes from our beautiful beaches and central to the vibrant La Jolla community.  You will experience the pride, and support of being a member of an outstanding team where we share a culture of providing excellent care to our patients and each other. 
This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating services and activities associated with Scripps' Cancer Genetics Programs and acts as a clinical liaison and communications link to physicians, office personnel, nursing staff, allied healthcare professionals, the patients and their families. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing cancer genetic counseling, coordination of genetic testing, interpretation of test results and making recommendations for patients & their family members regarding screening & management of cancer risks. An essential function of this role is to maintain quality standards for responsive service and professional documentation, ensure current and accurate policies, procedures and practices, all in a manner which is consistent with the mission and philosophy of Scripps Health. Provide feedback to physicians including risk assessment, ordering appropriate testing & cancer screening/management recommendations.  Responsible for the development, organization, and implementation of the Prenatal Genetics program and any other assigned clinical activities while ensuring study protocols and all requirements are followed.
 

Please note this position has a Monday through Friday work schedule and is a salaried/exempt status position. 

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Master's program in Genetic Counseling.
 
Minimum of two (2) years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
 
Knowledge of prenatal genetic services.
 
General principles of hospital administration.
 
General principles of hospital financial administration.
 
Knowledge of professional standards and practice for areas of responsibility.
 
Knowledge of research principles.
 
Good organization, communication and planning skills.
 
Demonstrates good leadership, decision-making and judgment skills.
 
Must be flexible, innovative, and creative in planning and problem-solving Communicates, advises, writes and consults in a professional manner.

Board eligible or Board Certified with the Canadian Association of Genetic Counselors and/or the American Board of Genetic Counseling.

Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
 
Knowledge of heredity and cancer genetic services.
