Join the largest rehabilitation team in the Scripps Health system as a Driver Rehab Specialist. You will be supported by our robust team of experienced therapists every day as you use your strong technical background to positively impact patients. The ideal candidate is comfortable both building relationships with patients one-on-one and presenting our program to doctors and local community groups to support program development.

The Driver Rehab Specialist provides evaluation, treatment and education to patients according to the therapist’s respective licensure/registration/certification, Code of Ethics, Federal/State regulations, JCAH/UMQC and Care Center policies and procedures. You will also provide clinic and on-the-road evaluation and driver training for individuals with physical, cognitive and/or visual disabilities. This includes identification of needs for vehicle modifications as well as general adapted driving techniques for adolescent, adult and/or geriatric populations with various diagnoses.

This position is eligible for part-time or full-time schedules and is located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Degree from an accredited school of Occupational or Physical Therapy
  • At least 3 years of Clinical Experience
  • At least 1 year of Driving Rehabilitation Experience

Required Certification/Registration:
  • CA Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy License
  • Valid CA Driver’s License
  • Current American Heart Association BLS

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • In the process of becoming a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS)
