The Cardiovascular Care Line - Data Analyst will be a member of the cardiovascular registry abstractor team and is responsible for managing clinical quality data registry analytics to support established quality registry data processes and strategic patient safety and clinical quality initiatives for Scripps Health. Performs data abstraction, validation, and analysis of the Transcatheter Valve Therapy (TVT) Registry and serves as backup abstraction support for the STS Adult Cardiac Surgery Registry, CathPCI Registry, and LAAO Registry. Creates, maintains, and enhances dashboards to visualize outcomes. Ensures an effective feedback loops for continuous performance improvement focused on cardiovascular service line performance improvement. Serves as a data and analytic subject matter expert for the American College of Cardiology’s National Cardiovascular Data Registry and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons National Database.
Applies broad knowledge in providing data analytics services to clients. Gathers operational data to examine past business performance. Identifies data patterns & trends, and provides insights to enhance business decision making capability in business planning, process improvement, solution assessment etc. Recommends actions for future developments & strategic business opportunities, as well as enhancements to operational policies. May be involved in exploratory data analysis, confirmatory data analysis and/or qualitative analysis.
This is a Casual position with Varied Shifts, located at our Scripps Corporate Office in La Jolla.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Good critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of database functionality with ability to translate customer requests into actionable reports.
  • Working knowledge of cardiac registries.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • 6 months experience with Transcatheter Valve Therapy (TVT) Registry abstraction, data manipulation, data validation, analysis, creating dashboards to track performance.
  • Experience working in cardiac catheterization lab, hospital, or doctor’s office.
  • Advanced proficiency with creating complex and advanced formulas in Excel, such as v-look up, Excel Pivot tables, and conditional formatting.
  • Master’s degree or higher in Health Sciences or related field
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality and outcomes measurement and reporting.
