Be of the forefront of crafting and executing strategy with the Corporate Business Development department at Scripps Health. This is the ideal position for someone with experience in the field accessing opportunities and seeing how it all falls into strategy.

As Corporate Development Associate, you will provide a key role within the Corporate Development team, which is broadly responsible for the evaluation of various strategic initiatives and specifically responsible for executing mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, and divestitures. You will participate in planning for the department, the execution of the strategic work plan and contribute to its success through effective communication and execution.

Play an integral role in ensuring effective use of system resources. Provide functional expertise essential to perform duties. Participate in standards of practice and process improvement activities. Ensure policy and procedures are followed by self and by staff.

This is a Full Time, Salaried position located in La Jolla.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in corporate or business development, licensing, joint-ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Experience leading and facilitating work teams, with superior facilitation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative analysis. Lean training and/or experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of present and potential health care services and operations including exposure to various transactional and developmental business models.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, business planning, patient care financing, and health care administration within an integrated health care or lifescience environment.
  • Experience in a range of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, collaborative relationships and similar arrangements with knowledge in one or more of the following: scanning, assessment, valuation, transaction structuring and negotiation.
  • Analytical thinker with ability to focus on details, synthesize broad amount of information into actionable information to be used by senior management and executives.
  • Able to quickly spot issues and develop a recommended approach. Strong quantitative skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and problem solving skills with ability to streamline management, executive decision-making and work with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to efficiently support multiple processes.
  • Team player with ability to build broad relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong finance and/or accounting skills with knowledge of key current and emerging issues impacting strategic transactions.
  • Experience in designing and leading initiatives with proven performance in meeting productivity, financial, and client satisfaction goals on deadline.
  • Ability to create a scanning and assessment process.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • MBA, MPH or graduate business degree.
