Job Description

Under general directionof a Project Manager, the Project Engineer develops or reviews cost estimates, prepares written reports, technical specifications, and material specifications for renovation and construction projects associated with various facilities. Works with consultants providing direction and information on specific programs and projects. With direction, manages architects, contractors and other professionals; provides on-site field construction inspections on assigned projects.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills: Knowledge of engineering and/or architectural principles and techniques utilized during project management and construction. Ability to communicate well orally and in writing, as well as use computers. Ability to work effectively with others and to be flexible in work assignments, and assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the essential functions. Ability to schedule design and construction projects. Ability to interpret local, state and national codes and standards. Ability to research related codes and standards to insure compliance. Ability to work independently. Preferred experience & skills: Knowledge and experience working in inpatient and outpatient healthcare facilities, as well as basic knowledge of OSHPD regulations.Equivalent to four years increasingly responsible project experience. Degree in engineering or architecture may substitute for experience.
