The Cook position is responsible for coordination, preparation, and volume production of meals for patients, cafeteria, and catering/special events. Performs job functions to support the following Food Service operational systems:  safe food handling, volume food production, menu development and modification, meal assembly and portion control, inventory management, and infection control/sanitation. Follows established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with JCAHO, Title XXII and other applicable regulatory requirements.
This position is Full Time and located at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Two (2) year’s experience in quantity food preparation or 1 year experience with culinary degree from accredited institution.

Required Certification/Registration:
  • Food Handlers Card or the Serve Safe Certificate or able to pass Food Handler's Test given by verified manager or designee.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Experience in quantity food preparation in healthcare preferred.
  • Serve Safe Certificate preferred.
  • Formal culinary/quantity cooking education preferred.
