As part of the Scripps Health pharmacy team, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians provide a broad range of clinical services at our sites and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to deliver high-quality, efficient services to patients and staff. The Clinical Pharmacist II provides pharmaceutical care according to standards established by Scripps Health Pharmacy, to assigned group of patients. Reviews and evaluates individual drug orders for appropriateness, safety, and cost. Documents the care provided to patients. Supervises the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate. Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses and patients regarding drug therapy. Contributes to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy. Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title. Works variable shifts, including evenings and weekends as staffing needs require. Primarily decentralized based practice; demonstrates ability to perform competencies and perform activities as outlined in Pharmacist Authorities policy. Participates in direct patient care with patient care teams. Performs all clinical pharmacy activities and oversees clinical activities of clinical pharmacists in training. Precepts students.

This is a part time position with day shifts, 2-3 days per week in the main pharmacy and clinical shifts.

Job Requirements

Required:
  • BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree
  • 1-2 years' experience Hospital pharmacy practice and Clinical pharmacy practice (inpatient or ambulatory)
  • For Ambulatory Care Retail Pharmacy - 1-2 years retail experience
  • PGY1 residency or equivalent hospital patient care/Retail experience
  • California Pharmacist License
  • AHA BLS for the health care provider and ACLS certifications required prior to being trained to respond to codes
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) or other nationally recognized certification 

Preferred:
  • Hospital pharmacy practice and Clinical pharmacy practice (inpatient or ambulatory) experience
  • For Ambulatory Care Retail Pharmacy - retail experience
