Job Description

Provides pharmaceutical care according to standards established by Scripps Health Pharmacy, to assigned group of patients. Reviews and evaluates individual drug orders for appropriateness, safety, and cost. Documents the care provided to patients. Supervises the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate. Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses and patients regarding drug therapy. Contributes to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy. Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title. Works variable shifts, including evenings and weekends as staffing needs require. Demonstrates ability to perform competencies and perform activities as outlined in Pharmacist Authorities policy. Primarily operation focused centrally based; participates in direct patient care as clinical competencies are approved and on approved shifts.
This position is within Scripps System wide Resource Services (SSRS) Department.  Therefore, this is an internal Scripps Resource Team that has the opportunity to float to multiple Scripps locations.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills: BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree:

Required Certification/Registration: California Pharmacist License, AHA BLS for the health care provider and ACLS certifications required prior to being trained to respond to codes.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification: PGY1 residency or equivalent hospital patient care/Retail experience preferred. Hospital pharmacy practice and Clinical pharmacy practice (inpatient or ambulatory) experience is preferred.
