Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate processing and reconciliation of complex financial and statistical information as well as the production of advanced balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow statements and other financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Proficient preparation of PowerPoint presentations to assist in the analysis and interpretation of financial results and trends. Duties also include preparation of complex financial analysis to assess trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Reports organization's finances to management, and offers recommendations about resource utilization, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. Assists Chief Financial Executives, Finance Directors, and operating managers in preparation and analysis of reports. Familiar with a variety of the industry's concepts, practices, and procedures. The position requires advanced analytical skills and independent thought and action including creation, modification, documentation, and implementation of accounting and operating procedures in conjunction with appropriate personnel. Relies on solid experience and good judgment to plan and accomplish individual, team and department goals. Assess internal controls, including risk assessments and review of risk areas.Initiates and provides training and assistance to others within the department.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills: A minimum of 5 years of progressive, broad based accounting responsibilities is required and a minimum of 2 years of financial statement analysis is preferred. Previous experience in a health care setting and a multi-institutional setting is desirable. Must be familiar with use of personal computers and proficient with spreadsheet applications such as Excel. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal).

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification: Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Bachelor of Science in Business with an emphasis in Accounting is preferred.
