Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista provides a variety of medical and surgical services, including inpatient and outpatient care. Within the hospital you’ll find our 24-hour emergency room and many other specialty services ranging from cancer care to stroke care.
Job Description
Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) – Full Time
Schedule: 72 hours per 2-week pay period | 12-hour Night shifts (including weekends)

As an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech), you will play a vital role in supporting patient care within the emergency department or urgent care setting. Working under the supervision of nurses and physicians, you will assist with essential clinical and operational tasks to ensure efficient, high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist nurses and physicians with patient care activities and procedures
- Obtain and document vital signs
- Perform patient care tasks, including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, and simple dressings and splints
- Collect stool and urine specimens
- Transport patients as needed
- Provide coverage for unit secretary duties when needed
Required Qualifications:
- Certified CA state issued EMT (EMT, AEMT or Paramedic) or CNA
- BLS Healthcare Provider Certifications through American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience in emergency services
- EMT certification
