Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Mentor -  Operating Room

Scripps Green is a 173-bed hospital that has served the La Jolla and greater San Diego communities with distinction since 1977.  Conveniently located off I-5 near the Genesee Avenue exit, our healthcare professionals care for people from a number of communities including Bird Rock, La Jolla Shores, Mount Soledad, University City and beyond. Scripps Green offers a wide range of clinical and surgical services, including organ transplantation, oncology care, cardiothoracic and orthopedic surgery, interventional cardiology and blood and bone marrow transplant.
 
This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and is open and flexible to changes created by our lean processes. As a Clinical Mentor you will function primarily as an RN with additional duties. You will have responsibility for assigned patients during RN relief periods and work collaboratively and educationally with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care. You will provide education and guidance of Registered Nurses regarding the nursing process, critical thinking, accountability for the plan of care and it's relation to patient outcomes, and communication/collaboration with all team members. You will function as a clinical expert, role model, mentor and resource in a designated practice area. You will work collaboratively with the Charge Nurse, Educator and Manager of the Operating Room to develop a learning environment for the caregivers, as well as to provide a service and care oriented environment for the patients. You will also collaborate with the Sterile Processing Department leadership on educational support.
 
This is an 8 hour day shift position with call requirements.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years of recent RN acute care experience, two (2) of which are in the OR
  • Current CA RN License.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA) and NIHSS
  • Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
