Scripps Green is a 173-bed hospital that has served the La Jolla and greater San Diego communities with distinction since 1977. Conveniently located off I-5 near the Genesee Avenue exit, our healthcare professionals care for people from a number of communities including Bird Rock, La Jolla Shores, Mount Soledad, University City and beyond. Scripps Green offers a wide range of clinical and surgical services, including organ transplantation, oncology care, cardiothoracic and orthopedic surgery, interventional cardiology and blood and bone marrow transplantation.


The RN Educator role is integral to ensuring a smooth work flow in the Surgical Services departments, including the OR, Sterile Processing, Surgical Tech Dept., Pre-Op and PACU. The responsibilities include keeping unit competencies current, scheduling monthly in service trainings, reviewing all department policies, and other administrative tasks as needed. The educator also takes responsibility for assigned patients during RN relief periods and works collaboratively and educationally with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care. Takes responsibility for education and guidance of Registered Nurses regarding the nursing process, critical thinking, accountability for the plan of care and it's relation to patient outcomes, and communication/collaboration with all team members.


This is a full time 8 hour day shift with varied start times and no call.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • Registered nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • 1 year of recent OR experience
  • California Registered Nurse License
  • Current American Heart Association BLS
  • Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English
  • Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Master's degree in nursing
  • 5 Years experience
