Scripps Clinic Medical Group, Division of Transplant Surgery is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide medical care for liver, hepatology and general hepatology in an outpatient clinic located in Scripps as well as Las Vegas and Palm Springs under direction of transplant surgeons and physicians. The candidate will interact closely with a large multi-disciplinary group including surgeons, physicians, pharmacists, dieticians, nurse coordinators, nurses, trainees (fellows, residents, and physician assistant students), as well as consulting services across the medical center, region and out of state. The candidate must be detail well organized, adaptable to a fast paced environment, and an excellent communicator and team player. The candidate will have opportunity to participate in quality improvement and clinical research projects, depending on area of interest.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
  • Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient's EMR; EPIC; write progress notes and narrative discharge summaries; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings. Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Call for organ offers divided among 7 advanced providers for the month, ranging from 4-5 days from home, no in house call. Working closely with the transplant surgeons to set up transplant, donor flights, recipient admissions and OR cases.
  • Train new personnel.
  • Staff outreach clinics to build practice and referrals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated excellent organization and time management skills and excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families and health care workers.

Preferred qualifications for Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner: minimum of one year experience desired in the field of Hepatology or Liver transplant
