The Pharmacy Educator will be joining a core team of leaders dedicated to excellent patient care and providing support to keep our pharmacists at the forefront of their professions.The Pharmacy Educator will collaborate with Schools of Pharmacy and educational institutions to coordinate student education with the practice sites. This position is ideal for the pharmacist experienced in precepting and enthusiastic in building the foundation of a student program.

The Pharmacy Educator oversees overall pharmacy educational strategy and direction, collaborates with the clinical and operational leadership systemwide in coordination with clinical leadership at the sites. The Pharmacy Educator position will also facilitate education and training of interns, general, and new to health system pharmacists in pharmacy practice. Active in hospital and system clinical program planning. Actively develop and present educational topics, and staff development programs. Participates in activities to enhance the pharmacy department's professional and or clinical services. Serves as a clinical resource to health care providers as members of medical staff committees and or specialty collaborative. Coordinates onboarding and annual training of staff, liaising with Centers for Learning and Innovation.

This is a full-time, salaried position located in La Jolla. This is a limited tenure position for 5 years with the option to renew.

Job Requirements

  • Pharm.D. Degree
  • 3-5 years experience in Hospital pharmacy practice and Clinical pharmacy practice (inpatient or ambulatory) in area of specialization
  • PGY1 residency or equivalent hospital patient care experience
  • California Pharmacist License
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) or other nationally accredited certification

  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior educational program development experience.
