As Marketing Specialist - Limited Tenure, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of marketing and communications tactics to increase awareness of pre-diabetes and diabetes risk and Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute programs. Projects include social media management and market outreach activities to within the San Diego community. Functions as a member of a team including planning, execution and evaluation of results. Responsible for tracking projects to meet internal client budgets and timelines. Proactively coordinates each project from intake through execution of tactics, including generating estimates and coordinating multiple reviews/approvals. Key accountabilities include: leading project workflow, establishing, tracking and meeting project deadlines and ensuring each project is the highest possible quality, produced in line with Scripps brand standards and professional standards, maximizing visibility for the organization, ensuring optimal cost-efficiency and result in increased referrals to diabetes programs and services.

This is the ideal position for a bilingual Marketing Specialist looking to work flexible, part time hours.

This is a Part Time – Limited Tenure position which offers flexible work hours.

Job Requirements

Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • Minimum of one years working as a marketing/communications, social media coordinator or equivalent with experience, preferably in health care in project management, social media, writing, editing, customer service/telephone communication skills and evaluation of analytics.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required for this position.
  • Internal and external customer interaction and excellent customer service is required.
  • Must be extremely well organized, detail-oriented, capable of prioritizing and managing multiple, unrelated tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting a large organization (more than 25 people) with multiple departments is preferred.
  • Must have significant experience in job coordination, with the ability to coordinate large projects. Individual should have demonstrated initiative to organize or improve workflow and business processes.
  • Must possess excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills, with an understanding of the execution of branding as related to design.
  • Must exhibit a positive, pleasant and professional demeanor in all situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, possess consensus-building and negotiation skills.
  • Mature, poised and articulate individual with sound judgement, tact and diplomacy, especially under stressful situations.
  • Must have excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and formatting skills. Experience in Word and Excel a must. Electronic mail, voice mail, internet. Individual must demonstrate a passion for customer service and support, exhibit high levels of commitment and energy, and have the utmost integrity and accountability. Attitude and behavior consistent with system mission, vision and values. In addition, the position requires the following: - Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and coaching skills –
  • Experience involving substantial public contact - Ability to engage with all levels of staff, and general public - Strong patient advocacy and community relations skills.

Required Education/Course(s)/Training:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and communications, health care administration or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
