As the Manager, Revenue Cycle you will be responsible for the Hospital and Professional Billing and Patient Accounts Department.  Provide management and operational support for implementation or optimization of enabling technologies across departments of Hospital and Professional Billing.  You'll ensure compliance with policies/procedures and standards of care. Resolve administrative and operational issues within department/organization. Initiate improvement efforts, workflow design and validation as well as drafting policies and procedures. Manage department resources effectively. Ensure Patient Account targets are met while maintaining quality and compliance requirements.
Develop and continuously improve SBO departmental situational response guides, policies and procedures, technology usage and optimization, and training/educational programs and materials to promote excellent customer service, compliance, and accurate and effective patient account management for Hospital and Profession business office management.  Manage Follow-up and Collections on Hospital and Professional Billing Self-Pay Balances which includes but is not limited to; research, plan, and resolve patient issues in coordination with risk, compliance, and legal, vendor management, coverage for all SBO management positions.   Additionally, you will collaborate with management teams from across the organization to improve patient satisfaction, increase collections and reduce denials. Participate in department strategic planning and contributes to its success through effectively communicating goals and expectations to staff. Oversee and performs quality audits providing retraining or action plans as needed to improve accuracy and meet production/patient satisfaction targets. Ensure effective use of system resources while meeting budgetary targets. Generate and review reports to track department outcomes, performs root cause analysis to identify and drive performance improvement needs. Oversee staffing assignments and time card compliance, possesses ability to hire and, conduct performance evaluations. Keep abreast of current policies, practices and procedures and provide guidance to staff. Assist in urgent situations requiring immediate decision making as needed.
This is a Full Time, Salaried position located at our Scripps Financial Office in Rancho Bernardo/4S Ranch.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • 5 years experience in customer service or healthcare/medical office environment, one of which in a leadership role.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency of computer applications, excellent mathematical skills and ability to handle monies.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; innovative with ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Able to adapt, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and government health insurance and billing guidelines, ACA requirements, understanding of DRG's, Medical ICD9/ICD10 codes and CPT/HCPC Codes and Modifiers are preferred.
  • Experience with Epic Resolute Hospital and Professional Billing systems.
  • 5 years relevant revenue cycle experience and 3 years management experience in complex multi-specialty setting, hospital and professional experience in business office or clinical setting is required.
  • A combination of extensive experience and understanding of: insurance eligibility and benefits coverage verification, patient account billing, collections, customer service, bad debt management, use of collection agencies, charitable care, payment plans, adjustments, payment posting, refunds, credits, cash reconciliation, GAAP, state and federal regulations, and financial reporting for both Hospital and Professional business offices.
