We invite you to join our high functioning Sterile Processing Department as a Lead, Sterile Processing Tech. You will be working in a fast-paced, welcoming environment, responsible for the cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies used for patient care. You will clean and disinfect equipment requiring decontamination or sterilization according to designated principles of asepsis and be responsible for testing and recording of sterilizer equipment performance to ensure operating within sterility standards. You will maintain established control systems for supplies and equipment processed and coordinate daily communication and operational needs with affiliated departments. Will function as department lead with responsibility for assisting with daily department operations including staff scheduling, training, mentoring, and performance management. May function as the technical expert for a particular service line and in this role is responsible for improving service line processes and daily quality outcomes. Leads performance/process improvement projects.

This is an 8 hour, full time position (80 hours per pay period).

Job Requirements

Required Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • Completion of college training program for SPD or online study program or completion of formal on the job training program.
  • 1 year experience as SPD Tech.
  • Working knowledge of sterilizers, surgical instrumentation and medical equipment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and familiarity in database management.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CBSPD Certification.
