Our cytology team is key in evaluating patient samples to determine next steps in treatment and care.

The Cytology Supervisor is a role model for the cytology team and will be accountable for staff scheduling and training both Cytology Prep Techs and Cytotechnologists. The Supervisor is responsible for all the regulatory preparation, documentation and interface with the inspectors at the time of inspection as well as writing and updating all Cytology Standard Operating Procedures. The Supervisor also actively works with the Information Systems team on the EPIC Beaker Anatomic Pathology build. The Supervisor will monitor performance quality for the team, assist on fine needle aspirations and provide troubleshooting. As the face of the department, the Supervisor will collaborate and engage with other clinicians and nurses to provide excellent customer service.

This is a full-time, exempt position, primarily on day shift. The Supervisor may need to adjust hours based on department needs.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Biological Science from an accredited college or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years of full-time experience as a working cytotechnologist within the preceding 10 years with gynecologic and non-gynecologic cell samples
  • Successful completion of a 12 month CAHEA accredited cytotechnology program
  • California Cytotechnologist License

  • ASCP certification
  • Two years of Cytology Supervisory experience
  • Non-Gyn experience in a hospital setting
