Join our site-based float pool as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in the Rehabilitation department supporting both Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego and Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista. You will bring your excellent communication skills to creatively solve problems every day. The ideal candidate is confident in the acute care environment and ready to jump in to support our teams in their mission to provide world-class patient care.

The COTA assists in the provision of therapy under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist who shall be responsible for the extent, kind and quality of the services provided by the therapist assistant through a continuum of care. This work is performed according to the assistant's licensure/certification, Code of Ethics, Federal/State regulations, JCAHO/UMQC and Care Center policies and procedures. As a COTA you will demonstrate the ability to perform competencies as outlined in Rehabilitation Services Competency Assessment tools and provide age specific care as established for area and job title.

This role is part-time (48 hours per pay period) working varied days to include at least four shifts per month, two of which must be weekend shifts. This position will rotate between Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego and Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista as needed.

Job Requirements

Required Certification/Registration:
  • Current California State licensure as a COTA
  • BLS for Health Care Provider

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • Minimum of one year of acute care experience as a COTA
