As part of the Scripps Health pharmacy team, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians provide a broad range of clinical services at our sites and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to deliver high-quality, efficient services to patients and staff. The Clinical Pharmacist II is a self-motivated healthcare professional passionate about patient care and setting up the next generation of pharmacists for success in the field. The Clinical Pharmacist II will be supporting Oncology and BMT services at Scripps Green Hospital.

The Clinical Pharmacist II provides pharmaceutical care according to standards established by Scripps Health Pharmacy, to assigned group of patients. Reviews and evaluates individual drug orders for appropriateness, safety, and cost. Documents the care provided to patients. Supervises the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate. Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses and patients regarding drug therapy. Contributes to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy. Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title. Primarily decentralized based practice; demonstrates ability to perform competencies and perform activities as outlined in Pharmacist Authorities policy. Participates in direct patient care with patient care teams. Performs all clinical pharmacy activities and oversees clinical activities of clinical pharmacists in training. Precepts students.

This is a full time position with varied shifts.

Job Requirements

  • BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree
  • Hospital pharmacy practice and Clinical pharmacy practice (inpatient or ambulatory): 1-2 years' experience is required. 
  • PGY1 residency or equivalent hospital patient care/Retail experience required.
  • California Pharmacist License
  • AHA BLS for the health care provider and ACLS certifications required prior to being trained to respond to codes
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) or other nationally recognized certification required to obtain within 2 years of hire
  • Oncology experience

  • Hospital pharmacy practice and Clinical pharmacy practice (inpatient or ambulatory) experience 
  • Epic experience
  • BCPS or BCOP
